Living in Spelthorne

Twelve miles of the River Thames (more than any other London borough) runs through Spelthorne and there are many parks, open spaces, leisure attractions, pubs and restaurants in and around the area.

Leisure Activities

There are various leisure activities in and around Spelthorne from Thorpe Park and Legoland to sporting venues such as Kempton Park racecourse, Twickenham rugby ground and Wentworth golf course.  Hampton Court, Windsor Castle and Windsor Great Park are close by, and London is only 34 minutes from Staines railway station.

Spelthorne has a multi-screen cinema in Staines Upon Thames, a comedy club in Sunbury on Thames and theatres close by in Kingston, Richmond, Woking and Windsor. When it comes to eating out, there is a huge choice of restaurants and pubs to choose from. If you want to keep fit then there are two leisure centres and a great number of gyms and sporting activities in the area.

Education

Spelthorne has a wide range of universities, colleges, primary and secondary schools in or close by.

There are many parks and open spaces in Spelthorne including Staines Moor which is a 510.8-hectare biological site of special scientific interest.

Twelve miles of the River Thames (more than any other London borough) also runs through Spelthorne. 65% of Spelthorne is designated as green belt.
